These events are part of the first week of Kate’s Percolate Residency at Dance Limerick.  She will be joined by her friend and long-time collaborator Seke Chimutengwende and they will spend the week developing their solo and duet improvisation performance practice.

Kate is a physical theatre practitioner and Feldenkrais teacher who teaches and performs across Europe. She moved to Ireland from the UK two years ago and teaches dance and voice students at the University of Limerick.  Seke is a dance-artist, choreographer and teacher based in London. He has performed with companies such as DV8 Physical Theatre, Lost Dog and Fabulous Beast.

Seke and Kate met in 2006 and have performed together in London, Berlin, Gothenburg, Brighton and Hastings. They have both been profoundly influenced by Ruth Zaporah’s work: Action Theater ™ and Andrew Morrish’s teaching.

Class (taught by Seke)
Through guided explorations games and scores we will answer the following questions: What are the choices we can make in terms of space, rhythm and texture in instant composition? Can engaging our senses lead us to material when improvising? How do we create content and structure spontaneously?

Performance
Kate and Seke improvise with movement, voice and language. They perform without any pre-planned structure or theme, preferring to find both in the moment of performance. Their duets encompass storytelling, humour and abstract expressionism.

Open Studio

You are invited to watch Seke and Kate show their work on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons at 3pm.

Cost:
Class: 7 euros.
Open Studio and Performance: free.

Venue: Dance Limerick, 1-2 John’s Square, Limerick.
